Rebecca F. Hardy
Contemplation of the mental pathways of the human mind and the conduct of human nature and its behaviour to perform consciously and subconsciously.
“As a human being the artist may have many moods and a will and personal aims, but as an artist he is 'man' in a higher sense – he is 'collective man' – one who carries and shapes the unconscious, psychic life of mankind.” Carl Jung
The complexity of these emotions upon the individual and the individual amongst society is my visual exploration and journey into understanding the dense sociology, psychology and biology of this process. My artwork is expressive, obscure and surreal; the work can be observed as storytelling, at times it symbolises or represents a single human emotion. The contribution of text in the work, written in English and my mother tongue Welsh adds both conflict and augmentation to the work.
I am an emerging visual artist & maker from North Wales. I work in a range of materials and projects, from mixed media paintings and collage, 3D objects, installations to black ink drawings. Within the past 7 years I have been involved in several group exhibitions in London and in Wales. Selected exhibitions include Works on Paper, Elysium Gallery, Swansea; In a State of Flux, SOUPgallery, London; Y Lle Celf 2009, The National Eisteddfod of Wales, Meirion and District, Repeat & Reprise, East Gallery, London and recently Wunderlust ll, tactileBOSCH, Cardiff.
