CROFTING CURATORS
CROFTING CURATORS And ARTISTS
'Crofting' is a social system in which small-scale productions of something grown plays a defining role. Crofting is characterised by its common working communities. Traditional crofters pursue a number of activities to support each, in this sense we wish to invite Crofting Curators and artists to hold unique events for the Skittle Gallery @ The Crofts.
C R O F T I N G @ SKITTLE GALLERY
The Crofts runs a series of locally and internationally sourced, for one to three day and night, art events. The nights are be given over to a guest curators/hosts and art groups to promote their own vision. Taking their cue from the host venue's name, curators and artists will be expected to make the most of the less-than-white-cube conditions of the public house and develop extraordinary exhibitions and we will at Skittle Gallery @ The Crofts will provide a platform, help with publicity material, marketing and promoting of the events. In this sense 'Crofting' is the defining aspect to our ethos to support and work together.
Skittle Gallery is run on a shoe string it has not charged for hire or commission although we may charge a small submission fee in the future to help with administration.
In order for the events to be successful we would expect curators and artists to bring together a large an audience as possible with our help; to encourage viewers and purchasers (commission free) of their work and to enjoy the homemade food and drink at The Crofts to maintain it's standing in this economic down turn. In this sense 'Crofting' is the defining aspect to our ethos to work together as a whole.
